Are ISI marked hydrant valves mandatory?

In practice, yes. Fire NOC approval from the local fire service, and most insurance surveys, require hydrant valves conforming to IS 5290 with a valid ISI licence. Unmarked valves are a common cause of NOC rejection and rework, so we supply only ISI licensed products with the licence number on the invoice.

Stainless steel or gunmetal hydrant valve — which is better?

Gunmetal is the traditional material and is fully compliant. Stainless steel bodies resist corrosion better in damp stairwells and coastal locations, look better after years of exposure, and are less attractive to metal theft than brass and bronze. SS costs somewhat more but is now the common specification in new high-rise work.

What accessories are needed with a hydrant valve?

Each landing valve normally needs a blank cap with chain, a hose box or cabinet containing two lengths of 63 mm RRL hose with instantaneous couplings, a branch pipe with nozzle, and a fire hose reel drum with 20 mm hose. We can supply the complete hydrant point as a set so nothing is missing at inspection.
